Using an Adjustable Wrench for a Hammer

My love of mechanical devices and tools started at an early age, probably 8 or 9. Lawnmowers, scooters, anything mechanical or electrical I could put a tool to interested me. Before I started college I had the opportunity to work for my brother-in-law on his farm.

It was a well run farm, 900 tilled acres.  The equipment was modern, and the farming techniques the latest.

I was working on a new piece of grain handling equipment one day when my brother-in-law walked up. He never joked so I didn’t know how to take his statement about tools:

 

“NEVER use a 12” Crescent Wrench for a HAMMER!,

when a 10″ will do.”
